AI & Data Science Director

Clarity AI is a global tech company founded in 2017, leveraging AI and machine learning to provide data and tools for sustainable decision-making to investors, governments, companies, and consumers. With over 300 employees worldwide, they focus on sustainability tech backed by major investors like BlackRock, SoftBank, and Deutsche Börse.

Location: Madrid, Spain (remote-friendly, CET timezone +/- 2 hours)

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the company's AI strategy across traditional machine learning, experimentation, evaluation, and generative AI applications.
• Act as the senior technical anchor, ensuring robust scientific thinking, experimentation practices, and engineering judgment.
• Identify opportunities for LLMs, agents, and related tooling to improve products, workflows, and team leverage.
• Create environment, tooling patterns, and ways of working for effective AI solutions.
• Coach and develop emerging leaders and strong individual contributors, defining organizational structure.
• Bridge product, engineering, platform, and executive stakeholders for AI initiatives.
• Provide leadership during team transition and leadership change.
• Help attract and calibrate senior profiles with machine learning depth and GenAI experience.

Requirements

• Deep grounding in classical machine learning, experimentation, modeling, and scientific reasoning.
• Hands-on familiarity with LLMs, agentic patterns, evaluation approaches, and GenAI tooling ecosystem.
• Proven experience leading senior technical teams and shaping organizations.
• Ability to create ecosystems, processes, and technical direction for team effectiveness.
• Strong connection of technical decisions with business priorities.
• Ability to build trust, challenge constructively, and lead in demanding environments.
• Comfort operating in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
