Data/Infrastructure Advocate Engineer – EMEA Remote

Hugging Face is seeking a Data/Infrastructure Advocate Engineer to bridge data infrastructure and the community, focusing on storage, versioning, and collaboration of large-scale datasets. The role involves community engagement, promoting open data workflows, and creating educational content.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities

• Grow and nurture the open-source data/infra community through initiatives, collaborations, and events.
• Promote the Hugging Face Hub as the platform for data storage, versioning, and collaboration.
• Highlight use cases like large-dataset updates, Parquet editing, and deduplication.
• Create demos, benchmarks, and tools to illustrate best practices for data storage and versioning.
• Produce tutorials, blog posts, and videos to make complex topics accessible.
• Share insights on storage optimization, dataset versioning, and deduplication.
• Participate in online communities to highlight contributions and foster collaboration.
• Ensure datasets and tools on the Hub are well-documented with clear examples.

Requirements

• 3+ years in developer relations or advocacy, ideally for data engineering, infrastructure, or ML tools.
• Established public presence as a technical voice with an engaged audience on LinkedIn and X.
• Portfolio of developer-facing content: tutorials, blog posts, videos, demos, benchmarks, or conference talks.
• Experience building and engaging open-source or developer communities (Discord, GitHub, forums).
• Strong Python skills.
• Experience with data libraries such as pandas, pyarrow, and huggingface/datasets.
• Practical experience with storage systems and formats: Parquet, Open Table Formats, S3.
• Knowledge of dataset versioning, deduplication, and compression.
• Ability to explain complex topics clearly through writing, demos, or talks.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
