Editor Medical Communications

The role involves reviewing and editing a wide range of scientific and medical content for clarity, accuracy, and style, ensuring high-quality outputs for global healthcare communications.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and editing a wide range of content outputs (including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slides, PDFs, digital materials) for grammar, spelling, consistency, and clarity.
• Ensuring alignment with house, client and journal style guides.
• Applying consistent and appropriate use of digital markup tools, tracking changes and comments to provide clear, actionable editorial feedback.
• Proofing typeset copy including layout considerations and liaising with studio and/or journal for amendments.
• Checking redrawn figures, PowerPoint and PDFs from studio to ensure accuracy versus submitted materials.
• Working with teams to ensure copyright and author permissions are in place, and copyright wording is included.
• Owning and updating client style guides for consistent application.
• Verifying content for scientific accuracy and consistency by verifying data, references, and source materials.
• Collaborating with scientific team to resolve data discrepancies.
• Escalating concerns or unclear data to relevant team members.
• Recording and monitoring project time and completing timesheets.
• Flagging scope, timelines, or budget issues.

Requirements

• Life sciences degree required.
• 1+ year of experience working for a medical communications company, medical journal or similar.
• Highest standards of English spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solutions-focused, sound judgement and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced agency setting.
• Strong multi-tasking, planning and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
• Experience with digital markup, tracked changes, and editing tools.
• Excellent attention to detail.
