Facility Coder III - Surgical Specialties

This role involves professional medical coding within outpatient revenue cycle operations, requiring expertise in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, and supporting hospital-based surgical specialties, particularly GI.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $28.55 - $42.85/hr

Responsibilities

• Assist with special projects and training other coders.
• Monitor and respond to accounts in charge router, charge router messages, CRMs, and review requests.
• Review complex medical documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes following guidelines.
• Serve as subject matter expert in assigned specialty and participate in coding meetings.
• Follow up and clarify documentation issues.
• Maintain continuing education and research coding topics.
• Adhere to ethical coding standards and confidentiality.
• Meet quality and productivity standards.
• Assist in annual edit review and respond to correspondence.

Requirements

• Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
• Advanced training in Medical Coding or related field.
• Typically 5 years of professional coding experience, including revenue cycle and health information workflows.

Additional Information

• Hospital-based/surgical specialties coding experience, GI preferred.
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1st shift, 40 hours/week.
• Remote work approved in multiple states.
• Certification required: AAPC or AHIMA.
• Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods and concentration.
