Head of Accounting - Europe

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly/quarterly/year-end close across entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Maintain the general ledger: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, FX revaluation, and supporting schedules.
• Run a standard close calendar and checklist; drive the close to completion with clear deadlines and accountability.
• Maintain a monthly exceptions queue and keep documentation audit-ready.
• Own bookkeeping across all entities; ensure consistent policies, coding, and documentation standards.
• Maintain clean intercompany operations: invoicing, reconciliations, and balances.
• Lead end-to-end crypto transaction accounting across wallets, exchanges, networks, and tokens.
• Ensure crypto balances are reconciled and supported with strong audit trails.
• Maintain schedules for realized vs unrealized gains/losses and cost basis/lots.
• Implement and maintain finance controls, compliance calendar, and coordinate with external advisors.
• Deliver management-ready reporting: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variance narratives.
• Produce burn reporting and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Maintain visibility across fiat accounts and crypto holdings; support payment operations.
• Learn current processes, stabilize close, document gaps, and establish routines.
• Strengthen reconciliations, implement controls, and deliver monthly reporting.
• Run a reliable close and reporting engine, reduce operational risk, and establish scalable accounting operations.

Requirements

• 6+ years in accounting/controllership/finance operations roles, with end-to-end ownership of close and reporting.
• Prior experience in web3/crypto companies, exchanges, or crypto-heavy operations.
• Strong technical accounting foundation (IFRS/GAAP).
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and operating across multiple jurisdictions.
• Crypto-native accounting experience: wallets/exchanges, reconciliation, audit trails, controls.
• Strong documentation discipline and high integrity.
• Comfortable operating in a lean, high-ownership environment.
• Excellent written communication.
