Medical Records and Health Information Manager

An experienced Medical Records & Health Information Manager is needed to build and lead the Health Information Management (HIM) function at Backpack Healthcare, focusing on scalable processes, compliance, and organizational strategy in a fast-growing behavioral healthcare organization.

Location: Remote

Salary: $75,000-$80,000

Responsibilities

• Lead all medical records and release of information operations
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, payer requirements, and CARF standards
• Design and implement scalable HIM workflows, policies, and tracking systems
• Develop reporting metrics to improve efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround times
• Partner with Compliance, Legal, Clinical Operations, Technology, and Quality teams
• Train and support staff on medical records processes, documentation standards, and privacy best practices
• Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for health information management
