Senior or Staff Backend Engineer

Skylight is a technology startup building the OS of the family, creating products like the Skylight Calendar to improve family life. They are looking for a seasoned backend engineer to develop reliable, scalable systems and features that matter to customers.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000/yr

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust APIs
• Optimize backend infrastructure
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including retail, customer support, and data
• Find simple, straightforward technical solutions to complex problems

Requirements

• Experience in architecting, implementing, testing, and maintaining reliable backend services
• Strong communication skills in both code and human language
• Ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders
• Autonomy in improving systems
