Location: Remote (US, with a preference for Dallas, TX)
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and commission PLC programs on Siemens and Rockwell platforms for cooling and mechanical plant equipment.
- Develop supervisory logic for the Master Plant Controller, including equipment staging, lead/lag, setpoint reset, failover, and plant-level coordination.
- Build and maintain the SCADA/HMI layer, including operator screens, alarming, trending, historian, and access control.
- Write safety logic, interlocks, and alarm strategies for high-power equipment.
- Integrate OEM-controlled equipment over various industrial protocols, defining and validating register and object maps.
- Build process simulations and digital twins to validate logic and tune control loops.
- Lead field commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of live systems.
- Apply software engineering practices such as version control, code review, and documentation.
- Build software around the controls stack, including data pipelines, monitoring, telemetry, and automation.
- Translate architecture and sequence-of-operations into maintainable code.
- Operate in ambiguous environments and solve problems without established processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years programming industrial PLCs and SCADA/HMI systems in production environments.
- Deep hands-on experience with Siemens (TIA Portal, S7-1500/1200) and/or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000, ControlLogix/CompactLogix), fluent in Structured Text.
- Proven SCADA/HMI development experience, including alarming, historian, and trending.
- Strong command of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, and BACnet.
- Experience programming controls for mechanical, process, or HVAC plants.
- Track record of commissioning systems on live equipment with a safety-first mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel.
