Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer - EMEA

Percona Support is a global team of elite engineers specializing in database behavior analysis and optimization, primarily working with large-scale PostgreSQL deployments for Fortune 50 companies. The role involves technical support, problem-solving, and community engagement.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities

• Help customers’ DBA teams with high complexity problems involving PostgreSQL.
• Gather relevant data and investigate issues to provide detailed analysis.
• Perform screen-sharing sessions for serious, production-impacting issues.
• Author blog posts, answer questions on forums, create articles for knowledge base.

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on, expert knowledge of PostgreSQL and related tools.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL ecosystem tools such as pgvector, repmgr, barman, pglogical, Patroni, pgBouncer.
• Experience with performance tuning, server configuration, query optimization, and indexing.
• Familiarity with backup solutions like pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, WAL-G, and recovery techniques.
• Experience with high availability solutions including replication, routers, proxies.
• Demonstrable Linux system administration experience.
• Experience with containerization and Kubernetes, including deployment and troubleshooting.
• Methodical troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex issues.
• Self-taught, self-directed, eager to learn new technologies.
• Availability for international travel for team meetings, conferences, or customer visits.
• Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
