Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Server Enablement & Qualification)

Senior Site Reliability Engineer responsible for Linux systems, hardware interfaces, and virtualization technologies within Akamai's Virtualization & Host Platforms team, focusing on cloud compute host and server technologies.

Location: Poland

Responsibilities

• Developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools the VHP team is responsible for.
• Designing and implementing enhancements to VHP observability infrastructure.
• Developing subject matter expertise in VHP components.
• Working with new tooling, code, and environments and automating processes.
• Collaborating with support, operations, and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Participating in on-call rotations and guiding restoration of service-impacting issues.

Requirements

• Advanced experience in Linux internals, system administration, and hardware understanding.
• Advanced experience with Linux kernel, OS, and virtualization technologies (KVM/QEMU).
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.
• Skills in diagnosing hardware-test failures related to firmware, BIOS/UEFI, device firmware, kernel/driver, or test environment.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
• Experience in a Development or SRE role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with infrastructure management tools like SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
