Staff Software Engineer (Developer Platform)

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their Developer Platform team, focusing on building infrastructure, automation, and AI tooling to enable secure software shipping at scale.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $205,000—$231,000 USD

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of significant pieces of the Developer Platform, including monorepo CI/CD, the Agentic AI platform (DriftlessAF), shared build infrastructure, and change-throughput substrate.
• Improve the speed, reliability, and developer experience of the monorepo CI/CD pipeline.
• Contribute to the next generation of change throughput, exploring substrates beyond PR-based workflows.
• Help productionize the Agentic AI platform, including observability, RAG-as-platform, and context-engineering patterns.
• Consolidate fragmented build systems and deliver standardized blueprints for onboarding.
• Partner with engineers to automate manual work and improve developer experience.
• Mentor teammates, review designs and code, and serve as a technical voice.

Requirements

• 8+ years building and operating production services and platform infrastructure in modern cloud environments.
• Proficiency with Go, or strong readiness to ramp quickly.
• Deep expertise in CI/CD systems, container orchestration, and tooling for large monorepos.
• Experience guiding technical direction across multiple teams.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI and LLM-based automation, and interest in context engineering at platform scale.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and data-driven improvements, self-directed, high standards, fast-paced environment.
