Staff Software Engineer (Developer Platform)

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for their Developer Platform team, focusing on building infrastructure, automation, and AI tooling to enable secure software shipping at scale. The role involves ownership of key platform components, improving developer experience, and scaling change-throughput processes.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of significant pieces of the Developer Platform, including monorepo CI/CD, AI platform (DriftlessAF), shared build infrastructure, and change-throughput substrate.
• Improve speed, reliability, and developer experience of the monorepo CI/CD pipeline.
• Contribute to scaling change throughput beyond traditional workflows, enabling trusted agents to commit directly to main with automated validation.
• Help productionize the Agentic AI platform, including observability, shared memory, and context-engineering patterns.
• Consolidate fragmented build systems and deliver standardized blueprints for onboarding and production.
• Partner with engineers to automate manual work and improve platform usability.
• Mentor teammates, review designs and code, and serve as a technical voice for operational excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years building and operating production services and platform infrastructure in cloud environments.
• Proficiency with Go or strong readiness to learn quickly.
• Deep expertise in CI/CD systems, container orchestration, and tooling for large monorepos.
• Experience guiding technical direction across multiple teams, evaluating tradeoffs, and building alignment.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI, LLM-based automation, and platform-scale context engineering.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on automating manual work.
• Comfort with ambiguity, data-driven improvements, and working in a fast-paced environment.
