VC Associate

Toyota Ventures is a venture capital firm investing in early-stage startups in deep tech and climate solutions, with a focus on AI, advanced materials, automation, robotics, and space tech. They are seeking an associate to help source and evaluate innovative companies.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, with remote work possible within other U.S. cities.

Salary: $120,000–$155,000/year for California-based roles, plus benefits and bonus.

Responsibilities

• Network and participate in industry and VC events.
• Generate deal-flow and source high-potential target companies.
• Meet with and evaluate companies for investment.
• Participate in due diligence, competitive analyses, and industry deep dives.
• Prepare memos and present potential investments to the Investment Committee.
• Support deal negotiations and closings.
• Analyze industry trends and author market research briefings.
• Collaborate with Toyota Ventures platform team to support portfolio companies.

Requirements

• 4+ years of work experience in a related role; venture capital or operational experience in a tech company preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or relevant field.
• High integrity and professionalism, with ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Entrepreneurial-minded and well-networked.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong financial modeling and analysis skills.
• Extensive experience with Excel and Google Suite.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and risk.
• Ability to work collaboratively.
• Track record of completing projects with minimal guidance.
• Passion for learning about new technologies and their business potential.
