The VP of Field Operations for the West Coast of the United States leads practice operations, focusing on strategic relationship-building, team leadership, and implementing best practices to ensure growth, productivity, and operational excellence across specialty dental practices.
Location: Remote (US)
Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a quarterly practice visit plan, attend bi-weekly site visits, and lead direct reports to maximize growth and financial performance.
- Build strong relationships with partner and associate doctors, sharing strategic goals and addressing escalated issues.
- Oversee onboarding and off-boarding processes for associates, including growth planning and practice support during transitions.
- Coordinate and resolve payroll issues with relevant teams.
- Mentor and develop Regional Directors of Operations (RDOs) through regular 1:1s and individual development plans.
- Realign and expand the RDO team to drive growth and manage regional budgets.
- Conduct monthly operational reviews with RDOs to create and monitor SMART action plans for EBITDA optimization.
- Prepare quarterly business reviews for senior leadership covering achievements, challenges, and growth strategies.
- Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies, optimize scheduling, and ensure capacity utilization.
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives like recruiting, marketing, practice transitions, procurement, technology, compliance, and FP&A.
- Ensure policy and SOP compliance with the regional team.
- Focus on associate doctor retention and engagement.
- Lead and measure outcomes of strategic initiatives, refining processes.
- Implement best practices for revenue cycle management across PMS systems.
- Develop and present business cases for regional growth opportunities.
- Ensure effective call center and telephone configurations for immediate patient access.
- Communicate KPI practice performance and use Excel and pivot tables for reporting.
- Cascade change management and communication to RDOs and practice administrators.
- Drive new practice openings, relocations, lease renewals, and equipment acquisitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management within healthcare or dental support environments.
- Proven leadership in multi-location management.
- Strong leadership, team development, and mentoring skills.
- Expertise in operational planning, process optimization, and change management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Data-driven with strong analytical skills for KPI monitoring and reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel, pivot tables, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG), Smartsheet, and workflow tools.
- Knowledge of call center configurations and telephone routing.
