AFC Operations Manager (Remote - Work from Anywhere)

Xapo is seeking an Anti-Financial Crime Operations Manager to oversee and manage all operational aspects of financial crime prevention, detection, and mitigation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, especially related to fiat and cryptocurrency transactions.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the financial crime risk management framework, including policies, procedures, and controls for cryptocurrency and fiat transactions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of financial crime professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and emerging trends in financial crime, especially related to cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as counterparties and correspondent banks.
- Oversee investigation and resolution of financial crime incidents, including internal investigations.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, risk management, engineering, product, and operations teams to integrate financial crime risk management into the company's overall risk framework.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on the company's financial crime risk profile, control effectiveness, and compliance status.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, law, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications in financial crime, AML, or related disciplines (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in financial crime risk management, with at least 2 years in leadership/management.
- In-depth knowledge of Gibraltar and UK laws, regulations, and industry standards related to financial crime, AML, and cryptocurrency.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Proven success in designing and implementing financial crime risk management programs.
- Experience in investigations and law enforcement interactions.
- Strong ethical standards and professionalism.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, and blockchain technology.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
