Grafana Labs is hiring a Director of Engineering for the Loki Databases team, leading a large engineering team in a remote-first environment. The role involves overseeing the development and operation of telemetry databases, including Loki for logs, and collaborating across teams to drive product vision and innovation.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: USD 236,851- USD 284,221

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of 20+ engineers and managing their growth.
• Collaborating with product, design, and engineering leadership to define goals.
• Guiding projects from ideation to post-launch to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Fostering a psychologically safe environment for engineers.
• Working across team boundaries to solve customer problems.

Requirements

• Strong Director level engineering people manager with entrepreneurial vision.
• Motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and ownership.
• Experience collaborating across time zones and cultures in a remote environment.
• Experience guiding and supporting engineers and leading initiatives.
• Ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and deliver high-quality results.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems principles.
• Comfort with AI-assisted tooling.
