Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager at WelbeHealth PACE is a hands-on technical leader responsible for delivering APIs, integrations, and AI/ML services within the Interoperability & API Engineering team, focusing on healthcare standards and organizational scaling.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $132,181—$174,478 USD

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture, development, and delivery of APIs, microservices, and integration pipelines for healthcare systems.
• Build scalable, cloud-native solutions using Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern integration frameworks.
• Implement MLOps patterns for model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Build prototypes and PoCs for new technologies, workflows, or AI automations.
• Lead and mentor engineering team, fostering innovation and ownership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define strategies and translate technical designs.
• Ensure development aligns with HIPAA, PHI/PII standards, and healthcare interoperability patterns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; master’s preferred.
• Minimum 8 years in software engineering, with 3+ years in leadership or senior engineering roles.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AI/ML, Azure AI Foundry, or related frameworks.
• Strong experience with Python and/or Node.js for API engineering and data integrations.
• Prior experience in healthcare, interoperability, or API-heavy environments.
• Proficiency in REST/GraphQL API design, microservices, OAuth2, JWT, Entra ID, event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with MLOps tools (Azure ML, MLflow, Databricks) and container ecosystems.
• Experience with interoperability standards like FHIR, HL7, EDI.
