Lead Data Scientist

Lead Data Scientist supporting the Finance organization at ServiceTitan, using machine learning, generative AI, and data-driven insights to drive financial planning, optimize spend, and inform strategic decision-making.

Location: Canada

Salary: Between $168,200 CAD - $252,200 CAD (expected for candidates in Canada) plus equity and benefits, potential bonus

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning, forecasting, optimization, and generative AI solutions for financial planning, analysis, and decision-making.
• Partner with Finance leadership and stakeholders to translate financial questions into data science problems.
• Build machine learning systems and scalable data science infrastructure for Finance teams.
• Determine appropriate modeling approaches and design experiments to evaluate them.
• Deliver forecasting, anomaly detection, and optimization expertise to improve financial modeling.
• Transform model outputs into actionable business recommendations.
• Lead strategic projects to improve financial planning and operations.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams for model deployment.
• Mentor data scientists and elevate technical standards.
• Invent innovative solutions for business problems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a data scientist developing predictive business models.
• At least 5 years of experience in time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and/or optimization.
• MS/Ph.D in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or similar.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with expertise in PyTorch, Transformers, scikit-learn, XGBoost/LightGBM, scipy, statsmodels.
• Deep experience building and deploying forecasting and resource-constrained optimization models.
• Experience applying Generative AI to business problems, developing and testing GenAI solutions.
• Experience building Agentic Workflows and implementing RAG architectures.
• Strong foundation in statistics, hypothesis testing, experimental design, and causal inference.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
• Ability to create actionable recommendations from model results.
• Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts to stakeholders.
• Passion for discovery, problem solving, and practical outcomes.
