ProFee Oncology Coder

The Pro Fee Coder at Savista reviews clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for various patient types, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement. The role involves validation of APC calculations, documentation review, and interaction with healthcare staff, supporting regulatory compliance and data integrity.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $22.08–$34.69/hr

Responsibilities

• Select and sequence ICD-10, and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for designated patient types.
• Review and analyze facility records to ensure accurate APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes.
• Abstract clinical data from records to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition.
• Complete assigned work functions utilizing appropriate resources and act as a resource for client staff.
• Maintain patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and conference calls as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and third-party requirements.
• Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and maintain credentials.

Requirements

• Pass pre-employment skills assessment.
• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, COC, CCS-P, CPC).
• Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Ability to code at 95% quality threshold while maintaining standards.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
