Professional Coding Supervisor - Remote

The Coding Supervisor oversees the medical coding team, ensuring accurate coding for surgical procedures, compliance with policies, and optimizing revenue. They lead, monitor, and support staff while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of the coding team for proper medical coding of procedures and services.
• Guide and direct staff to ensure timely coding and charging.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed and address barriers.
• Monitor medical records, productivity, and quality measurements.
• Maintain knowledge of compliance standards, insurance carrier standards, and revenue optimization.
• Create a positive, professional, and service-oriented work environment.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Demonstrate leadership and embrace new responsibilities and ideas.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

• Current AAPC certification as CPC or current AHIMA certification as CCS.
• Multiple advanced coding certifications through AAPC preferred.
• Three to five years recent healthcare coding experience.
• 1-3 years supervision/leadership experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, reimbursement systems, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, data collection techniques, and relevant regulations.
