Senior Staff Mixed Methods User Researcher

The Mozilla Firefox User Research team is seeking a research leader to drive human-centered exploration of complex problems, using evidence, data, and insight to inform product and design strategy. The role involves leading research initiatives, mentoring researchers, and influencing organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-stakes research studies, shaping product vision and organizational strategy.
• Drive user-centered decision-making at the executive level, influencing senior leadership.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, design, engineering, data science, and marketing teams to identify research opportunities and align insights with business priorities.
• Integrate diverse data sources, including qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral data, and market intelligence, to develop evidence-based perspectives.
• Leverage AI tools responsibly within research workflows, establishing standards for ethical AI use.
• Mentor and elevate research practices by setting methodological standards and identifying capability gaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of applied research experience, including strategic research leadership, with at least 6 years in the tech/SaaS industry.
• Extensive experience leading evaluative and generative research across product development phases.
• Proficiency in qualitative methods (interviews, usability studies) and quantitative approaches (surveys, data analysis).
• Deep knowledge of AI tools used in research workflows and ability to evaluate their outputs critically.
• Recognized expertise in research methodology and ability to introduce innovative approaches.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to build cross-functional partnerships.
• Experience supporting iterative, user-centered product development.
