Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Enterprise | US | Remote

Grafana Labs is seeking experienced backend software engineers to join their remote team, focusing on building reliable, scalable backend infrastructure for their observability platform used by large-scale operators.

Location: Remote (US and Canada)

Salary: $174,986 - $209,983 USD

Responsibilities

• Designing and leading the development of backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise features at scale
• Driving continuous improvement of engineering culture
• Driving projects from initial ideation through to production
• Contributing to scalability, reliability, security, and multi-tenancy of the Grafana platform
• Owning the operational health of the platform through on-call rotations
• Hiring and developing engineers
• Developing skills as a thought leader in engineering and operational practices

Requirements

• Deep experience writing production services at scale
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals
• Experience designing and operating large-scale, high-traffic, high-availability systems
• Experience with gRPC/protobuf APIs
• Strong database skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience with CI/CD systems and build tooling
• Comfort with Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, etc.)
• Familiarity with dependency injection and clean architecture
