Underwriter

The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and underwriting both Personal and Commercial Lines risks in accordance with Company guidelines, delegated authority levels, regulatory requirements, and sound underwriting principles. The role supports profitable growth, service excellence, quality documentation, renewal retention, and effective collaboration across the underwriting value chain.

Location: Bridgetown, Barbados

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and underwriting Personal and Commercial Lines risks according to company guidelines, delegated authority, regulatory requirements, and sound underwriting principles.
• Supporting profitable growth, service excellence, quality documentation, renewal retention, and collaboration across the underwriting value chain.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting.
• Completed or pursuing Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Diploma Level or equivalent insurance qualification (asset).
• Completion or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Insurance & Risk Management, Business Management, or related field (asset).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
