Wilson Sonsini is seeking an experienced M&A attorney to serve as a Practice Support Lawyer, focusing on elevating the quality, consistency, and efficiency of the firm's M&A practice through knowledge management, innovation, and practice development.

Location: Palo Alto, CA or other listed locations

Salary: $208,250 - $281,750 per year (Palo Alto, NY, SF); $187,850 - $254,150 per year (other locations)

Responsibilities

  • Draft, maintain, and promote standard form agreements and key documents for the M&A practice
  • Curate and improve a library of precedents and samples, soliciting attorney feedback
  • Draft client alerts and external publications on M&A legal and market developments
  • Provide thought leadership on M&A practice developments, market trends, and legal landscape shifts
  • Partner with the Chief Innovation Officer to identify and implement process improvements, new technologies, and AI tools
  • Stay current on developments across the legal industry and within Wilson Sonsini's other practice areas
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and internal champion for AI strategy within the M&A group
  • Develop and maintain a group-wide AI roadmap, identify high-value use cases, and prioritize implementation
  • Lead pilot programs and rollouts of AI tools, gather feedback, and measure impact
  • Create guidance, playbooks, and training materials for AI integration
  • Monitor legal AI technology landscape and advise on emerging tools and best practices
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to AI use in M&A practice
  • Collaborate with Professional Development to embed AI literacy into training
  • Design and maintain career development frameworks and training programs for M&A attorneys
  • Work with Marketing and Business Development to keep external M&A resources current
  • Organize and support external seminars, webinars, and client events on M&A topics
  • Coordinate practice group meetings and represent the firm at M&A conferences
  • Manage the firm's participation in professional organizations

Requirements

  • J.D. degree
  • Minimum five years of M&A-focused corporate practice at a law firm or in-house
  • Strong substantive knowledge of M&A transactions, deal structures, and documentation
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the firm
  • Interest in legal innovation, knowledge management, or practice development is a plus
