R&D Intern - Summer 2026

Mercury Ignite offers a 12-week paid summer internship for students in quantitative fields to gain practical experience in the insurance industry through research, modeling, and analysis projects.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: USD $30.00 /Hr.

Responsibilities

• Supports research initiatives and pricing strategy development for Mercury’s insurance offerings within a designated business line.
• Prepares and engineers data, conducts exploratory analyses, and assists with modeling and segmentation efforts to enhance pricing precision and product differentiation.
• Utilizes Python/R/SQL/SAS or other software to extract, manipulate and analyze large sets of data to recommend improvements in product pricing.
• Assists in predictive modeling projects and analyzing product performance under supervision and guidance.
• Performs primary field research, including customer, distribution, competitor and insurance department research.
• Prepares reports, graphs, charts and presentations based on research and analysis.
• Builds a minimum viable product (MVP) and presents findings to Mercury leadership.
• Other functions may be assigned.

Requirements

• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Currently pursuing a BS/BA/MS in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Economics/Finance).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA, 3.5 or higher preferred.
• Able to work 40 hours a week, beginning June 2026.
• Enrolled in a university program with an expected graduation date on or after August 2025.
• Planning to seek full-time employment between December 2026 and September 2027.
