Rakhine Interpreter

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring remote bilingual Rakhine-English phone interpreters to provide interpretation services across various industries, supporting limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. The role offers training, advancement opportunities, and a flexible work environment.

Location: United States

Salary: $1.25 - $1.40 per minute

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor during sessions.
• Remain calm during interpreting sessions, especially in emergency situations.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand industry-specific terminology and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Handle emotionally stressful calls and high call volumes as required.

Requirements

• Fluency in Rakhine and English and skilled in associated cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to stay neutral and objective, even with sensitive subjects.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Ability to adapt to technology enhancements.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write in requested languages (highly preferred).
