Software Engineer Data Infrastructure & Acquisition Raleigh NC USA

Speechify is a company dedicated to making reading accessible and supporting learning through innovative text-to-speech products. They are seeking a Software Engineer to support their AI data collection efforts, working on building high-quality datasets for model training at scale.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 + bonus + equity

Responsibilities

• Find new sources of audio data and bring it into the ingestion pipeline.
• Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline, currently on GCP and managed with Terraform.
• Collaborate with Scientists to improve data quality, cost, and throughput for next-generation models.
• Work with the AI Team and leadership to craft the dataset roadmap for future products.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
• Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
