We are seeking a high-performing Data Architect to help build and scale the data infrastructure that powers analytics, automation, and AI across the firm. This role offers engineering responsibility, including designing and implementing production-grade data pipelines, working with cloud-native tools, and collaborating with senior engineers and data scientists.
Location: Remote (Canada)
Salary: $60,000 - $100,000 CAD
Responsibilities
- Design and build organizational data infrastructure/architecture
- Partner with business leaders and domain owners to translate strategic priorities into data architecture capabilities
- Provide insights into the changing database/datalake storage and utilization requirements for the company and offer suggestions for solutions
- Establish standards for data platforms, integrations, analytics, and AI enablement
- Analyze database/datalake implementation methods to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Assist with organizational decisions on data infrastructure and architecture and make decisions on data strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor on how data architecture enables revenue, efficiency, and risk reduction, advising leadership on data investment decisions
- Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions
- Apply architectural principles, product-specific guidelines, security standards, usability design standards
- Influence decision-making across stakeholders and guide engineering teams in resolving complex challenges
- Drive expansion of analytics and AI services by embedding scalable design patterns
- Contribute thought leadership, reusable assets, and frameworks to scale across Data & AI practice
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in data platform architecture, analytics, or AI/ML
- Experience translating business requirements into technical design documents
- Experience architecting and securing big data solutions
- Experience with Azure
- Experience with Python and SQL
- Understanding of data movement and ETL
- Understanding of data governance and metadata tools
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work with an international team
- Experience building data lakes and data products (preferred)
- Team leadership and stakeholder management
- Understanding of Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Functions
- Strategic thinker and strong execution orientation
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and data quality
